post for April 10th week

After looking at a lot of different reviews of apps it makes think how many more are around even more geared to my classroom needs possibly.  Obviously as I have mentioned a lot of these can be used in script development and other aspects of teaching.  Turning in the Digital Storytelling Project, it makes me think about other forms of story telling and the opportunity to convert them to some digital format.  Maybe for class, maybe for myself.  Any time input can easily be stimulated, started and gained towards any content from a student the exchange and learning then is in full swing.  I will have to take time to review these not only for our final but in the summer along with others for possible use next year.  One recently I just found out about is BOOM or KABOOM, something like that.  You can shoot video on your android or whatever smart phone and then make part of your video look like it blows up with fire and smoke.  Looks like special effects on smartphones for the masses.  That is a good thing.  Limited access for a long time becomes open access for everyone.

Post before midnite on April 10, 2012

Shot a lot of photos for the digital story over 500 last week, but I think I have changed my mind and will do something different than the mountain farm idea.  The white board assignment made me think again about how I always envisioned white boards being more than what they are.  They are great and I have been using one for over 7 years continuously but when I first heard about them I had different expectations.  The tech is great and deeply embedded in my program for class interaction for audio and some video editing.  The website is starting to interact along lines with industry professionals, meetings continue and I like that, hope it continues.  Presentations continue to show different apps and with the right infrastructure it would be the best of all possible worlds, some of the special effects apps for video I have seen on my own outside of class at Temple, but antisocial behavior is overpowering education.  A more robust enhanced system has to emerge to offer education on the level it needs to be presented in current urban settings.

new blog web 2.0 presentation

I am sharing ideas!

tenth blog

Working through the web 2.0 presentations I continue to find some apps which are more applicable but basically apps which are good choices for all teachers and will work to share as I have at my own school. This week I am drawn to Animoto but with some reservations which I need to work out by reviewing the app myselfas it pertains to my own class use. Like the two to five minute digital storytelling exercise and I am thinking of incorporating it into my curriculum for more student input for content. Khan Academy is a  great resource but it seems like anything to do with the TED initiative certainly always does have relevance.  Blogger or Blogging which I am posting this week continues to have relevance from the first days of bulletin boards and so forth even through today with reflection and other opportunities for students to have input and allow feedback.
